Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has led to an increased use of fitness applications such as Strava to support people’s physical activities. This study analyzes the factors influencing the intention to use the Strava application using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) approach. A quantitative method was employed, with data collected through a Google Form questionnaire distributed to 442 active Strava users in Indonesia selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0. The results indicate that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Hedonic Motivation, and Perceived Privacy Protection have a positive and significant effect on Behavioral Intention, with Performance Expectancy emerging as the most dominant factor. This suggests that the perceived benefits in supporting physical activities and achieving fitness goals are the primary drivers of Strava usage, while the other variables also contribute to shaping users’ intention to use the application. Therefore, the UTAUT2 model is proven to be relevant in explaining user acceptance of the Strava application.
